Hamann Manus R is really a back transfer device. If you look at Christofer Nöring's website at: http://w1.131.telia.com/~u13101111/hamann.html there is a picture and a diagram of it. In the diagram lever number 5 is for back transfer. If I remember right you have to glide your finger first by clearing the input by lever 7 and then continuing to lever 5. Then the flag should be seen in the opening.
