This sounds like a Land Surveyors Hand Crank Calculator. I used one of these up until the late 1960's when doing Land Surveys. We took these to the field with us therefore to securely transport them, they were locked down in a box with latches that were built into the carrying case. Then, when we wanted to use the calculator to do our survey calculations in the office, we would simply unlock the latches and use the calculator on our drafting tables when preparing Plats of Survey. I actually still have the full sized Desk model that I have displayed here at work. I am looking for a instruction manual for it so it can also be displayed.
