Thanks Mark! I had a feeling you would be the one to jump in and help. Since this Monroe has a handle on the side of the carriage for resetting the registers, it's most likely your first thought, i.e., the knob is...well...just a knob! I was beginning to think it might simply be a "handle" and after you have weighed in on it, I'm pretty sure that's it. What was confusing me is that it turned (rotated) but only with some effort. At first I thought it might reverse or impede the registers (my Friden ST10 does that) but rotating it to various positions didn't do anything. By the way Mark, you should get the "Calculator Helper" award. Thanks!
