It is a metal case with a plastic window so the Hp-71b can be used in the case without opening it. They were used in area's of companies where dirt and grime along with debris is common such as many manufacturing environments. The were even used outside. The metal case isn't dented anywhere I could find. There are some places where the paint is rubbed off. But the hinges, screws and box is intact. Even the rubber inside is still soft and pliable.
