The SHARP EL-5150 has four different display systems which can be selected with FSE (display mode control) key. When you press the FSE key in the COMP mode, the display mode indicator FIX, SCI, or ENG or none of these will appear at the upper part of the display. The FSE key is operative only after the result of a calculation has been displayed or when calculator is cleared with ON/C key. The designated decimal point system and decimal places will be retained even whenth ecalcuator is turned off. The TAB key is used to specify the number of decimal positions in a calculation result when the FIX, SCI, or ENG mode is set. The number of decimal places is specified by the numeral key [0 - 9] following the TAB key. Carry over will be automatically rounded. Use the TAB key when the calculaton result is displayed or when the calculator is cleared with the ON/C key. Example: If FIX mode is designated. ON/C FSE (to display FIX indicator) TAB 9 (to fix the number of decimal places to 9) 5 / 9 = 0.555555556 TAB 8 (to fix the number of decimal places to 8) 0.55555556 TAB 7 (to fix the number of decimal places to 7) 0.5555556 TAB 0 1 Note: 1. If a number cannot be displayed in the number of decimal places specified by TAB, the number may be displayed in less than the number of decimal places specified by TAB. 2. The designated number of decimal places is retained even when the display system is changed or when the power is turned off. I hope this serves. Good luck! Kafkas Caprazli, Rome Italy
