The Wizard Calculting Machine is from the late 50/early 60's era. It is one of a large class of machines called slide adders or Troncets. You can see a wide selection on this website. Multiplication is performed by repeated addition. So to multiply 9 x 9, you add 9 nine times, to multiply 25 x 32, you add 25 twice and 250 three times. You can also do division by multiple subtraction but you have to keep a separate tally of the number of subtractions.
