Remington Rand - 1913?
"HELLO,
COULD YOU GIVE ME ANY INF0 ON AN OLD MECHANICAL CALCULATOR? THE SERIAL# IS EITHER Z3  297907 OR 73  297907. PIC IS ENCLOSED.

 THANKS,
KEN

Hi Ken.

Very nice pictures.  I’ll post them in the album section of my Web site and will invite collectors to review them for information.  According to my books, this could be manufactured in March 1913, but I’m not completely sure on that.  I base this estimate in “The American Digest of Business Machines” published in 1924 – It shows that serial numbers starting with 216,000 corresponds to the Model 11 manufactured in 1912, and the ones with serial number over 383,000 were manufactured in 1914.  The serial number has a two character prefix, the second character is a digit indicating the month of manufacture.  Problem is that the book only talks about “R” and “L” – Found no indication of the “Z” character.

Regards,
James Redin
